Typefully vs Buffer

A writing tool that publishes against a publishing tool that writes. Breadth on one side, drafting on the other. Both prices were read from their own pricing pages on 28 August 2026.

Buffer

Free, then $5/mo

Which should you pick?

Buffer is $5 a month per channel with a real free plan carrying three of them, and it is the safe answer for anybody who wants posts going out on time in a lot of places. Typefully is a writing tool that also publishes, and its drafting experience for threads is better than anything else here by a clear distance. If you are writing long-form on X, that difference is the entire decision. Two honest warnings. Typefully covers fewer platforms, with no Instagram, TikTok or Pinterest, so if your problem is breadth then it is the wrong tool whatever the writing is like. And we could not verify its paid pricing: the pricing page renders in JavaScript and does not survive being read, it is charged per social set, and sources put it somewhere around eight to twelve dollars. We would rather tell you that than print a number we did not confirm. Buffer's per-channel pricing is simpler and gets expensive past six or eight channels, which is where Typefully's flat sets start looking better.
